July 13-18 marked our fifth, highly successful Leadership Adventure Camp at Wesley Woods. Some 34 campers from Eagleton, Heritage and Maryville Middle schools attended this year. As before, Randy Allen and Patsy Russell 'gave their all' for the week to help make this work so well.

In addition to many individual and group experiences provided by the camp itself, the campers heard a variety of leadership oriented speakers which we arranged, including Doug Overbey and Brenda Sellers. Students also worked together on a planned service project for their school.

Six of our members helped host the opening night cookout and Lori Tucker of WATE-TV provided the keynote address at the closing dinner, attended by nine members of the Kiwanis Club of Maryville and some other guests.

Bob Murphy from the Maryville Kiwanis Club wrote, "This camp actually resulted from a challenge about six years ago from one of our leaders to 'brand' ourselves locally with a unique project that was our own."
